Complicado relatar brevemente la última etapa de mi viaje pasando de las amigables Islas Salomón a la tensas, y digamos complejas tierras de Papúa Nueva Guinea, que insisto nada tiene que ver con Guinea Ecuatorial en África (el otro extremo del planeta). 
Hace sólo unas horas que he salido del “territorio comanche” donde están las últimas tribus que hasta hace 100 años seguían aisladas sin ningún contacto con la civilización como muestra el mapa que os cuelgo del año 1901, donde las tierras Altas aparecen en blanco sin cartografiar. Tierra de tribus caníbales como en gran parte del Pacífico incluidas las Salomón, pero aquí todavía digamos que se respira… 
Todas las tribus que he visitado estas semanas practicaban canibalismo hace tan sólo tres generaciones (sus bisabuelos), por motivos y con objetivos varios que sería muy extenso explicar por aquí, y aunque todos coinciden en que ya no se practica me llegan rumores de que alguna tribu bien aislada en la montaña aún lo practica…aunque debido al ambiente que me encontré decidí mejor no subir tan lejos a preguntar.
Para ir al grano os cuento que es un país culturalmente increíble precisamente por la magia que aun se respira de culturas y aldeas que hasta hace poco no sabían de la existencia de nadie más en la tierra, por lo que digamos en general permanece el ambiente “salvaje”, tribal y “rival” de los que siempre han solucionado sus conflictos directamente matándose. Os diré que con diferencia es el país en el que más miedo he pasado, teniendo que verme en más de una situación en la que mi vida corría peligro real. Ya había escuchado que el ambiente se complica en época de elecciones cada 5 años y muchas tribus se enfrentan por tensiones básicamente políticas en la montaña. Pues bien, tuve puntería y este año tocaban elecciones. Hace sólo unas semanas que escogieron al nuevo presidente (el cual no sería la primera vez que no llega ni al año de mandato a base de ataques de sus oponentes), por lo que se andaban dando de machetazos en la ruta que tenía prevista así que el primer día bien asesorado y ante la negativa de mi guía a mantener el plan cancelé todo y empecé a improvisar, un plan por zona “segura”, aunque poco segura resultó ser. Viajando como yo decidí hacerlo, lejos de turistas y hoteles con aire acondicionado, la única opción segura en Papúa Nueva Guinea es salir del país, así de simple.
