Así de rotundo comienza el texto a través del cual el Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores Español da “sugerencias” en su página web para los intrépidos viajeros que se puedan plantear viajar a las remotas tierras de Melanesia, en el Pacífico Sur. Tierras habitadas por tribus ancestrales con un origen Caníbal tan real como la aventura que, pese a las recomendaciones, Paco Acedo ha vivido durante mes y medio recorriendo en solitario montañas, océanos y aldeas ancladas en el tiempo y como sacadas de un libro de Julio Verne.

La pasión por explorar rincones remotos del planeta va mucho más allá de un entorno concreto y en esta ocasión Paco Acedo, miembro de la Sociedad Geográfica Española y apasionado de las regiones polares ha cambiado su habitual exploración buceando bajo los océanos y lagos helados del planeta por su segunda gran pasión, el remoto y ancestral Pacífico Sur.

Las Islas Salomón y Papúa Nueva Guinea (que nada tiene que ver ni por localización ni por cultura con Guinea Ecuatorial en África), fueron su hogar durante esta aventura en solitario cuyos objetivos eran bucear en los pecios y restos sumergidos de la batalla de Guadalcanal durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, pero sobre todo, sentarse cara a cara con tribus de Islas Salomón y las tierras altas de Papúa Nueva Guinea descubiertas no hace ni cien años y las cuales aún conservan esa esencia salvaje y Caníbal que la “supuesta” evolución del ser humano hace poco a poco desaparecer, persistiendo pese a ello las leyendas sobre canibalismo que aún impregnan esta región en la cual, oficialmente fueron los bisabuelos de los actuales pobladores los últimos en practicar el canibalismo y la necrofagia.
