After two years of preparation to cross with kites the Greenland ice cap, by second time the Danish government refused me permission for economic reasons. The destiny change my direction again with this setback. But the adventure and personal challenges are just around the corner and there is always a “plan B”. ‐ Exploring Iceland as nobody did before ‐
For the first time an expedition intended to cross Iceland propeled by kites and diving where nobody did before
Once again the adventurer, explorer and extreme diver Paco Acedo faces next April 27th a new challenge unprecedented. The expedition will try to cross this great island propel by kites and diving in the glacial lakes of Iceland. From east to west the expedition will cross unassisted the two largest glaciers of Iceland, including Vatnajökull, the largest in Europe, covering a total of 250 km for 25 days and fighting to low temperatures that could reach -30°C. On this ocassion Paco Acedo will be accompanied by a cameraman, Javier Fernandez-Martos, who filmed the whole expedition.
They will drag by themselves heavies sleds, progressing on the uneven terrain of Iceland walking and with skis and propeled by wind when conditions permit.
The extreme wind of Iceland, sudden changes in weather, cold, ice, constant rain, and overcome a territory full of volcanoes with high seismic activity are some of the challenges that will face the expedition.
To complete the adventure, PACO ACEDO will dive in remote lakes in Iceland where nobody did before.
The expedition ” Wind, fire & Ice Challenge ” is a new step in the SUBPOLAR 90o project, which PACO ACEDO aims to reach the geographic North Pole diving.
